Creating a Space for All Trading Card Enthusiasts
At Nordic Card Show, we aim to create an environment where the different genres of trading cards can come together. Whether you're a child opening your first pack or a hardcore collector who knows every detail, there's a place for you. Collecting trading cards is a hobby for everyone, regardless of age!
The 2020 Boom in Trading Card Interest
In 2020, COVID-19 changed our daily lives, but it also sparked an explosion of interest in trading cards. The hobby grew so quickly that it became nearly impossible to find various products, whether it was sports cards, Pokémon, Magic, or other genres.
The Birth of a Danish Card Show
At that time, "Card Shows" were almost exclusively found in the USA. In various trading card groups on social media, people frequently asked about the possibility of a Danish "Card Show." The idea was met with enthusiasm, but we quickly realized that organizing such an event would be no easy task.
Nordic Card Show: From Hobby Project to Major Event
Nordic Card Show began in 2021 as a hobby project with the goal of bringing together trading card enthusiasts and creating a space where people could meet, buy, sell, and trade cards. Our first event in Holbæk featured 35 exhibitor tables spread across 400 m². The positive reception and support we received were overwhelming. Around 200-300 trading card enthusiasts attended what was possibly the first trading card event in the Nordic region, and perhaps even Europe. We were incredibly proud of our success!
Expanding Nordic Card Show in Aarhus and Beyond
Since then, we have held Nordic Card Show three times in Aarhus, with our 2024 edition selling out both exhibitor tables and tickets (approximately 1100 visitors). In collaboration with Pokemons.dk, we hosted Nordic Card Show X PokeKon in Hafnia Hallen in 2022 and 2023. This event covered 2000 m² and spanned two days, featuring trading cards, activities, workshops, and more. These were truly fantastic days dedicated to the world of trading cards.
Expanding Nordic Card Show in Aarhus and Beyond
In 2024, Nordic Card Show became part of the Copenhagen Gaming Week program at Bella Center, where 12,000 visitors attended the event overall. We estimate that about half of them visited Nordic Card Show, and many were surprised by the size and vibrancy of the trading card community. We often heard visitors say, "We need to go home and see if we still have our childhood trading cards in the attic, basement, or a shoebox."
Achieving Our Goals and Building Strong Partnerships
Have we achieved our goals from 2021? Yes, and even more. In 2022, we also partnered with Topps, one of the world's largest producers of sports trading cards, and they have been our main event sponsor ever since. Topps is a vital partner for us, and without the support of Danish businesses, private collectors, and visitors, Nordic Card Show wouldn't be what it is today. We are eternally grateful for the support.
Continuing to Grow Nordic Card Show
Nordic Card Show remains a hobby project run in our free time, and our goal is still the same. We strive to continuously improve the event, making it even better and drawing more people into the fantastic world of trading cards.

My passion for collecting trading cards began when I was a child. It all started with football cards and the chase for Maradona cards, I still remember the excitement of opening a new pack of cards...

I have always had a special admiration for Maradona and now Messi and the players connected to FC Barcelona. The magic of these players on the field has always fascinated me, and over the years, I have collected numerous cards that reflect their incredible careers.
My interest also extends to the NBA, where I collect cards of Lakers legends like Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, and Magic Johnson. These players have left a lasting mark on the world of basketball, and their cards have become precious collectibles for me. Every time I add a new card to my collection, it feels like acquiring a small piece of sports history.

My interest in trading cards started in the early 1990s when a trip to the USA sparked a collection of basketball cards. Shawn Kemp was my favorite player, so it was natural to collect his cards. But like everyone else, Michael Jordan was also a big part of my collection...

The store US-STYLE in Copenhagen was subsequently the place where we bought basketball cards and met the small group of young people who also collected basketball cards. Back then, it was all about collecting favorite players, and the value of the cards wasn't given a thought – something that is missed in today's trading card world.
After a long break from the trading card world, my interest was gradually rekindled when Prizm soccer cards for the 2014 World Cup became available.
Today, I still hold on to my Shawn Kemp collection, but my interest in soccer cards has taken over most of the collection – with Danish players making up the majority.

My interest in trading cards started in my younger days. At that time, only basketball cards were of interest, and my favorite team was the San Antonio Spurs. David Robinson was a big role model and therefore naturally a significant part of my collection...

Like many others, my interest in trading cards waned, and the collection was put aside from 2000 until the late 2010s.
The COVID-19 pandemic provided the time to dig up old memories, and my interest was renewed.
I continue to collect series from the '90s and San Antonio Spurs cards. With Victor Wembanyama added to the Spurs lineup, there is once again hope to see my favorite team at the top of the NBA. His addition has brought a new level of excitement and potential to the team, reminding me of the days when David Robinson dominated the court. Wembanyama's unique skills and towering presence have not only invigorated the Spurs but also revitalized my passion for collecting their cards. Watching his growth and impact on the team gives me a renewed sense of optimism for the future of the Spurs and my collection.
